It was celebration time again today at Secura Labels as the whole team gathered together to celebrate and recognise Richard Phillips’ fantastic 25 Years of Service with the company.

Having originally joined in 2000 to work on the rewind / inspection machines when we were based at Moira, he soon moved on to work on our Hot Foil presses, and after spending his lunchtimes learning the basics, was soon operating the Flexo presses as well.

Always wanting to improve wherever he could, Richard continued learning and adding to his skill set, and was duly promoted to Production Supervisor in 2011, and later to his current position of Production Manager.

With an unwavering focus on quality and efficiency Richard works tirelessly to eliminate waste in all areas of the business and to continually update his knowledge and expertise, with the express aim of ensuring the business continues to grow and evolve to meet our clients’ expectations, and ultimately to deliver the highest quality labels in the shortest possible lead times.

Yet, despite his diligent focus on efficiency, Richard is also known as the original prankster at Secura Labels, where colleagues would often find chocolate bars sellotaped to the underside of tables (after much searching and much to Richard’s amusement), he was chased by the cleaner with her mop after he had turned her vacuum cleaner off and she didn’t realise for some time as she was a little hard of hearing, and then there was the time he ‘wanted’ to take part in the cycle to work day, with an eye on the reward of a breakfast cob on arrival, so he drove most of the way, parked around the corner and cycled the rest!

Notwithstanding his having reached this increasingly rare long service milestone, Richard’s drive and enthusiasm show no signs of slowing down, and we are sure he will enjoy many more accolades and company milestones in the years to come.
