St. Nicholas Gifts
St. Nicholas Tradition - 5th December
A special treat at Secura Labels today.
It’s 5th December, and we are delighted to share in a tradition cherished across many Slavic communities, as our wonderful colleague Petra has kindly brought in some festive goodies for the team to share. A really thoughtful gesture that has brightened everyone’s day.
Across parts of Central and Eastern Europe, this date is associated with St. Nicholas traditions (Mikuláš / Sveti Nikola) where families mark the beginning of the winter gift giving season.
Children typically leave out polished boots or bags on 5th December hoping for small treats such as fruit, nuts or sweets (if they have been good), and hoping to avoid receiving some coal / potatoes (if they have not been so good). The occasion is also often accompanied by symbolic figures who gently remind children to stay kind and considerate throughout the year.
Occasions like this are so special as they provide an opportunity for all of us to learn from and celebrate the rich traditions our colleagues bring to the Secura Labels team, allowing us to share in these culturally important customs together.
So, once again, a huge Thank You to Petra for bringing a little more festive spirit to the office.
