Jane has been Secura Labels financial controller for over 10 years! So we decided it was her turn for the ‘get to know you’ questions and we delved a little deeper into Jane’s life and what her secret is for surviving at Secura Labels!
What do you love about working with Secura Labels?
I’ve worked at Secura since 2003 with a small break in 2008. Secura has gone from strength to strength in that time – moving to larger premises twice, lots more print presses and a larger workforce. My role has also grown and is constantly evolving which has made it an exciting and fulfilling role over the years. I have achieved a lot of personal development at Secura – commercial awareness and more technical accounting skills. Secura is a fun place to work - the team here are very friendly and great banter is had by all.
Where is your favourite place in the world, and why?
It’s got to be Cornwall for me. Its sensory overload with the smell of the sea, the food, gulls, crashing waves, views and great sunsets (unbelievably I don’t work for the Cornish tourist board!). Walking the dogs early each morning along the beautiful beaches and then going back to a full English breakfast mmmm.
What is your ‘top tip’ for surviving in the office at Secura Labels?
Rule no. 1 – don’t sweat the small stuff
Rule no. 2 – it’s all small stuff
What are your main responsibilities in your job?
Counting the money, checking the money, double-checking the money, account for the money and then pay out the money (ok maybe a little controlling). Also controlling the accounting, taxation and financial analysis reporting – all of which keeps me out of mischief!
If you had a ‘warning label’ – what would yours say?
Be happy – it drives people nuts!!
